What My Life Looks Like After College

It's been a little over a year since I graduated from Chapman University. I don't want to say it feels "surreal", but after the past few months of working from home and facing the adversity of COVID-19 impacting my community and economy, it truthfully does feel surreal. No one could have predicted the events that have occurred in the past year. But seeing how quick time continues to fly, I want to reflect and share on what my life looks like now that I've been out of college for over a year. Check out my recent creative "day in my life" project with Tiffany Le on my YouTube channel.Lifestyle:Fortunately, since I have always been very specific about my everyday lifestyle and habits, not much has changed since college. The main difference since post-grad life began is that I live alone now instead of having one other roommate. I have also maintained my priority in health/wellness, by attending workout classes 4-5x a week before or after work. When it comes to social life, I've continued to maintain strong connections with close friends and colleagues, whether that is grabbing dinner and drinks after work, or a fun night out on the weekend.A typical day in my life looks like this:

  • Wake up at 6:30am
  • Get ready + get to work by 7:45/8am
  • Meet with clients or whatever my schedule looks like for work
  • Get home from work around 4:30/5pm
  • Head to a workout class (SoulCycle, Pilates, Tennis, Hike) at 5:30pm
  • Dinner at 7pm
  • Podcast or Elite Skate Wear work from 7:30-10pm
  • Wind down for bed and try to sleep by 11pm

Post-Grad tip -- if you prioritize health/wellness or want to make sure you keep up with your workouts, ALWAYS schedule them ahead. Mark them in your calendar like an appointment. I cannot stress how important this is in order to actually hit the goal. Career:Job wise, I have truly enjoyed working in sales with a Fortune 500 company - ADP. I was initially recruited by them in early September 2019, just as I returned from my Europe trip, which was my last "hoorah" before going into the "adult" life. I officially started the job on 11/11/2019 (such an easy date to remember) and have been working with them since. Although my work is now fully remote due to COVID, prior to that, my day to day work consisted of meeting with clients, prospects, business bankers, CPA firms, and anyone that could influence potential business to me.Working in sales, I have a quota to hit each month and for the year. With the nature of this kind of work, it can get stressful if you aren't hitting those number goals and if you aren't as competitive to go after it.Outside of my corporate sales job, I continue to maintain my business. During the busy season, like Fall and Winter, it gets hectic with managing all the dresses to be made, along with wholesale orders for my store partners throughout the US and specific countries like Canada, UK, and AUS.Additionally, I started my podcast platform in February 2020, so I've been scaling it over the past few months and hope/plan to incorporate it into my career down the road, especially with my passion and knack for public speaking and anything within that industry.Post-Grad tip -- figure out the kind of day you'd like to have at your job. When I went into the 9-5 life and pre-interviews, I determined that I want a schedule as flexible as possible. Nothing too strict with timing and being on the dot at a specific time unless it was meetings. Working in outside sales gives you that flexibility because you are not in the office all day. So this is something you should consider (how your day looks) before you pursue an interview or specific field. Personal:On a personal level, I find that I have been able to dive deeper into my personal development as an individual and as an evolving young adult. From reading books on mindset and finances; to navigating the (kinda) new single life + the world of dating in SoCal, there is definitely a lot more time in the post-grad life to find whatever interests you and actually pursue it.Personally, I find that I thrive best when I have just a few quality and meaningful relationships in my life and having those people keep me accountable in my growth. With that in mind, I spend time focusing on myself and the things that I want to do and naturally, I attract similar and likeminded people into my life--whether that is friends or potential partners.Post-Grad tip -- utilize the extra free time to get personal with yourself. Don't just dive into the same old college habits, like drinking excessively, being hungover on Friday + Saturday, and swiping on dating apps. Instead, try reading an insightful book for 10-15 minutes a day, grab coffee with a friend on a weekly basis, keep connected with those that live a meaningful life that you want to be apart of.I also share a quick 1-minute video of what a "day in my life" looks like as part of a collaboration project with my fellow creative, Tiffany Le (who filmed, directed, and edited this video).
